Color choice??? How do you choose? Do you use the same colors over and over? Need a change.....
Whether you are creating a card, a scrapbook page or a handmade gift item, your color choice can play a huge roll in setting a mood (playful? serious? happy?). Just look at this blog - if I had used a black
background, or a more contrasting color scheme, would that change the overall energy and feel of the page and thereby your own reaction?
Also, if you have trouble selecting colors that coordinate well together, just look to our Designer Series Papers. With the information on each paper pack in our catalogs, you will see a listing of the colors used in that pack. Just find a paper pack with a look and feel that you enjoy and you now have a color scheme to work with!
Do you have to match your colors in order for a project to coordinate well?
No, I don't think so! While relying on a given color scheme from a Designer Series Paper can simplify your creative process, it can also be limiting. Sometimes adding a color outside of the given color scheme can add a pop of contrasting color that brings your art to life. Other times, using a different shade of a color found in your art can also bring that POP you are looking for in your project.
If you want a quick and easy way to mix your colors, the Color Coach can be a great tool. In addition to allowing you to hold various color swatches next to each other to see how they will look, the cards give you a selection of color combinations to try. There are even blank cards for you to record your favorite color combinations. In color inserts are available separately.
I put my Color Coach on a ring because I use it every day when I stamp...I find it to be a wonderful resource and I think you will too.
