Microscope Slide Christmas Ornaments

Zoo Review

I'm part of a Design Team that use Stampin' Up products.  Today's challenge was one that included glass Microscope Slides.  I will have several to show you over the next several weeks, but today I begin with a couple of Christmas ornaments that I made.  This is the first time I have ever worked with Microscope slides and it was fun.  I'm sure I will be getting lots of these from the during the Bulk Buy.  If you would like information on how to purchase the Microscope slides please contact me.  This opportunity ends June 29.

I can think of lots of things to make besides jewelry, magnets, gift tags an more.  I will be posting more samples during July.

I made one with cardstock and one with our Vellum Cardstock.  I have read that the Christmas tree lights shine nicely through the Vellum.  I tried it with a Nightlight and there is a difference.

It's important to remember to sandwich your "hanger" between your cardstock and backing.  I used Stampin' Up's retired Silver Elastic Cord, but any of our ribbons would work well, too.

I used the glass Microscope Slide on the front and cut a piece of recycled acetate packaging for the backing.  Great way to cut costs and recycle.

My craft knife worked well to cut the Zoo Review's Zebra's ear out for his Santa hat to slope to the side.

The outside edge is taped with Stampin' Up's Sticky Strip (the red adhesive tape) and then dipped in glitter.  I used retired Certainly Celery.

Tip:  I use a Clothespin to hold my layers together while I tape the edges of my slide.  It is almost like having a 3rd hand.  I know this is a different project....I forgot to take a picture to show you....this project will be posted early in July.  LOL

Stamp Sets:  Zoo Review, Jolly Bingo Bits
