Faux Washi Tape

How to Make Your Own Faux Washi Tape

During the recent Stampin' Up! Chattogoona, TN, Regional event that I attended, they demonstrated how to make your own Washi Tape using Designer Series Paper (DSP).  This is such a great technique because you can make Faux Washi Tape to match your favorite stamp sets and SU colors.  Love that idea!!!

Here's the basic technique:

1.  scotch tape on your DSP.
2.  rub with your bone folder.
3.  sponge off reverse color of DSP. (damp sponge)

Since our SU paper is double-sided you are, basically, removing one side of the DSP. This leaves the DSP side you placed on the Scotch Tape (can’t think of a non-name brand) as your Faux Washi Tape.

Here is the sample.....using Snow Festival Designer Series Paper and the Frosty Friends Stamp set.

You can see the Faux Washi Tape at the top of the card.

Hope you try this fun technique.  If you just try it on a small 1 inch wide strip of DSP you will see the results.....once you try it, you will be hooked. It’s easy. Very simple technique and only takes a very small piece of DSP, so I suggest that you just experiment with some retired DSP until you are satisfied with your personal results.
